You need to qualify for the Overseas category of tuition fee status. Read more about Postgraduate Tuition Fees.

Criteria 2

You must hold an offer to study a full-time, in person taught master’s course at one of UAL's Colleges and Institutes starting in 2026/27.

  • Your course must offer either a Grad Dip, M ARCH, MA, MFA, MBA, MRes or MSc qualification and be offered at one of UAL’s Colleges or Institutes. Courses run by UAL Online, or which start in January 2027, are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • You are not eligible to apply if you already have a postgraduate qualification (or one at an equivalent level) from a UK university, from studies taken in the UK, online or abroad e.g. at a UK university branch campus overseas.

Criteria 3

You must have US citizenship.

Criteria 4

Your annual household income must be £65,000 or less (or the equivalent exchange value in a qualifying country’s currency) at the point of application. For an up-to-date currency conversion, visit Oanda Trade Currency Exchange.

Criteria 5

You must provide a personal statement as part of your scholarship application which responds to the following questions (maximum 350 words per question):

  • Describe how receiving a scholarship would make a difference to you.
  • Tell us how you intend to use the qualification you will be studying to support your future plans.
  • Confirm any other sources of funding you have, or have applied for, to meet the cost of your studies in the UK.

Apply

Once you've received an offer to study at UAL, the ‘my finance and funding’ tab on your UAL Portal will be updated from March onwards to include application forms for scholarships you may be eligible for.

If you submit a scholarship application, we will email you to let you know if you have been successful.

For courses starting in September/October/November 2026, submit your scholarship application by Friday 26 June. You will receive a decision by Friday 7 August.

Applications can be submitted until 11.59pm (UK time) on the date above. We are unable to accept late or incomplete applications from students who have not yet received a course offer.

AI Policy

Please note that while we understand the benefits of using AI to help structure responses, we ask that you showcase your achievements and aspirations using your own voice. AI tools tend to lack the personal touch and authenticity we value in candidates for our scholarship awards, so if you are thinking of using AI when putting together your responses, please consider what value it would add.

Receiving payment

If your application is successful, you will be sent an award letter via email and if you want to accept the scholarship you will be required to accept on your UAL Portal.

Please note that this scholarship award is a contribution towards tuition fees only – it does not cover accommodation, living expenses or other course costs. Your tuition fees will be raised directly to your fees account in the first year of your course.

Additional information

Scholarships are awarded by a UAL selection panel, who make their decision based on the evidence provided in your application.

If you are awarded a scholarship and hold offers for more than one eligible UAL course within this scheme, the award will be applied to the course offer you choose to accept. It cannot be transferred to an ineligible course or to a course at a different level of study.

If you have successful applications for more than one UAL award or scholarship, you must choose which of them you would like to receive, as you are only able to hold one at a time.
