Shafqat's story
Shafqat is among hundreds of UAL students realising their creative potential thanks to funding.
For MA Interaction Design Communication student Shafqat, it is the combination of research, practical knowledge and exposure to the industry that defines his experience at UAL.
At London College of Communication, Shafqat enjoys the culture of sharing knowledge with classmates from diverse backgrounds as well as using the facilities available for him to express himself through his work. He recently worked on a project with the Victoria and Albert Museum Archives focussing on ‘Studies in Perception’. The piece was an interpretation of an artefact in the archives, Shafqat explains: “instead of using pixels, I created an image made of words. When a user walks towards the screen, the image starts to disintegrate into words.”
Receiving a UAL Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship has enabled Shafqat to access these facilities and experiences. “It has given me an opportunity to study and get exposure and knowledge in my industry, which I could not have experienced without studying at UAL. In the future, I will be able to do what I want and that’s what matters most to me.”
