Owain Caruana-Davies
Owain's story
Owain is among hundreds of UAL students realising their creative potential thanks to funding.
Owain knew he wanted to study at Chelsea College of Arts on the MA Interior and Spatial Design course, but it was the UAL Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate Scholarship that made it a reality. “It benefitted me greatly by allowing me to actually achieve the funds I needed to study at Chelsea on my dream course.”
“In the creative industries, it sometimes can be very hard to find the funding and scholarships needed to study at postgraduate level. I’d definitely recommend applying as soon as you can and really make the most of what these scholarships have to offer.”
Embracing the creative freedom on his course, Owain enjoys developing his design skills, exploring ideas in depth and stretching his imagination. His latest project explores ideas for re-purposing large cruise ships once they reach the end of their lives. “Currently their life expectancy is around 26 years and then they are broken down and it’s not very efficient. My design is trying to re-inhabit these spaces and to create a programme that could make them into really amazing spaces to live and work in.”
