Find out who can access our buildings and how your student ID card works

Building access

Children

Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate children under 16 years old at the College, only in exceptional circumstances. Please contact reception for more information: 020 7514 7444.

Visitors

We are also unable to accommodate visitors for students, except those associated with your course. Your Course Leader must give permission for external visitors. Please collect a Visitor Access Form from the Student Centre and have this signed by your Course Leader. Once this is completed, please hand it into reception, who will arrange a visitor pass for your guest.

Animals

Animals cannot be accommodated on site, with the exception of assistance dogs.

Disabled access and facilities

All areas of the King's Cross building are accessible to wheelchair users. There are disabled access toilets on all floors and washing facilities are available in the Medical Room on the ground floor. There are several disabled parking bays for blue badge holders available - badges must be displayed at all times and the University cannot accept responsibility for any damage to or theft of/from vehicles.

Student ID cards

All students are issued with an ID card which will grant you access to our King's Cross and Archway buildings and the specific areas relating to your course. You'll also need your card for printing and to use our student lockers, so keep it with you at all times.

Please note that Central Saint Martins operates a strict no card, no entry policy.

What should I do if I lose or forget my ID card?

If you have forgotten your ID card, you will need to request a temporary pass from reception. If you persistently forget your ID Card, you will be asked to purchase a permanent replacement.

New cards cost £5 and can be ordered on estore.arts.ac.uk. Your new card will be activated automatically next time it’s used on the entrance gates.

If your student ID card is replaced, the locker will not automatically transfer to your new card. A member of staff will need to open the locker for you, then you can lock the locker with your new card. Please email CSM Infrastructure infrastructure@csm.arts.ac.uk or come to the reception between 1pm and 2pm Monday to Thursday during the Locker/Card Troubleshooting Hour

What should I do if my card gets stolen or damaged?

If your ID card is stolen you’ll need to present a Police Crime Report Number to the Student Centre to receive a new card. If your ID card doesn’t work, contact the Student Centre – if it is damaged you can get a free replacement.

Can I share my ID card with another student?

No. ID cards are issued to individual students and must not be shared. Anyone found to be using another student’s ID card will have it confiscated and both involved could face disciplinary action.
