Impact storytelling is an emerging field. While media and the arts have long been harnessed for social change, these efforts have historically been dispersed and uncoordinated. Only in the past 2 decades has impact storytelling begun to take shape as a distinct, nascent field — what we describe as an “impact storytelling ecosystem” (Mirzoyants A., Eagle R., and Sewell, H: 2024). This ecosystem brings together a broad spectrum of disciplines, from arts and culture to campaigning, media, and technology, united by a shared purpose: achieving long-term social good through the power of story.
Alongside traditional research, we believe advancing this field requires experimentation. We forge spaces for creative exploration and multidisciplinary collaboration, bridging the often-siloed worlds of advocacy, media, and the arts.
