A student studying for the UAL Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design at Hertford Regional College has won a national visual merchandising competition sponsored by Harrods.

Sally Kemp’s window display, inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, was chosen as the winning entry at the VM and Display Show Graduate Challenge at the Business Design Centre, Islington.

Three other students from the Level 3 Diploma in Art & Design – Display and Visual Merchandising course at Hertford Regional College also received trophies for their designs.

The national competition is sponsored by the world-famed department store Harrods. As part of her prize, Sally will undertake a placement at Harrod’s Knightsbridge store in September.

The students were encouraged to enter the national competition by their tutor Tracey Grover, who visits the exhibition with display students every year. Tracey said

It was great that our students took all the finalist places at the show, it’s a brilliant addition to their CVs. We have thirteen students in total, and the whole group worked incredibly hard to produce the best designs they could. It’s a fabulous prize for Sally, she’s such a talented student and I’m sure she will make the most of the opportunity to work in the windows and in-store displays at such a prestigious store.
