Building a foundation for the future

As part of our Teach Inspire Create programme of digital events, we’re excited to present: A spotlight on Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (FAD). This free online event will give you the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the qualification and hear from those who design, deliver and study on it. This session is for all centres not currently delivering the Level 3 and 4 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design.

You will hear about the all-round benefits of studying a FAD with UAL Awarding Body centres and the myriad of skills and experience this course offers students. You will discover the insightful and comprehensive methods used to effectively prepare students for Higher Education or their chosen alternate pathway in the industry.

In this two-hour online session, Joint Chief Examiner for Art and Design, Vicky Cull, will be joined by heads of departments, current tutors and students. The panel includes:

  • Chris Roberts, Programme Director at Central Saint Martins
  • Xaviere Hughes, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design Course Leader at Hereford College of Arts

Chris will be joined by a past FAD student currently studying a BA at Central Saint Martins, and Xaviere will be joined by a current FAD student at Hereford College of Arts. The panel will discuss their experience of this qualification, covering topics such as course units, year planning and unit delivery. At the end of the presentation, you will have the chance to discuss any queries with the panel in a Q&A session.
