Andrew Pierre Hart: TrAIN Open Lecture and Publication Launch

Join us at Chelsea College of Arts Lecture Theatre for a presentation by artist and educator Andrew Pierre Hart, followed by an in-conversation with UAL Chair, Professor and Director of TrAIN, Paul Goodwin.

If you like rice,you’llunderstand – Collective Noise is a new cross-site project by Andrew Pierre Hart that draws on Stuart Hall's cultural studies and pedagogical legacy to explore sound as a form of learning and cultural exchange. Bringing together painting, photography, moving image, text and sound, the project considers how knowledge travels through everyday practices, informal gatherings, and sonic experiences.

Developed through personal travel, artistic research, and ongoing engagement with the Stuart Hall Library, Andrew will examine the relationship between sound and diasporic experiences, inviting audiences to reflect on how cultural knowledge is produced and shared across communities.

The public programme will be used as the framework to explore gatherings and collective spaces for learning as modes of action outside of the country’s current political rhetoric. Andrew will expand on these themes in conversation with the Research Centre for Transnational Art, Identity and Nation (TrAIN). Using iniva and Chelsea Space as catalysts for experimentation and reflection, Andrew will consider how different ways of coming together might be imagined and experienced.

The evening will be mark the launch of Andrew’s new publication as part of his cross-site project If you like rice,you’llunderstand– Collective Noise, a joint artist collaboration between iniva and Chelsea Space.

The galleries (Chelsea Space and Stuart Hall Library) will be open until 6pm.
