Course description
Delivered through a combination of presentations and discussions, this online short course introduces students to bioinspired textiles and how it relates to the broader bio informed design landscape.
The course guides students through the historical and contemporary developments of bio informed practice and explores the key concepts of bioinspired textile (BIT) design.
During the course, students are guided through eight biological structural design elements and gain an insight into how they can impact the resource efficiency, longevity and recovery of textile practice.
The course introduces students to inspirational examples of textile practice (BIT design) to inspire their future design practice.

This course is aimed at textile teachers, designers and creative practitioners interested in learning about bioinspired textiles and how it relates to the broader bio informed design landscape. It is also an excellent fit for individuals who are new to the creative sector or who aspire to learn more about sustainable design practices.
