Course overview

The Lightroom for Beginners Online Short Course is designed to introduce students to the power and versatility of digital photo editing using Adobe Lightroom and Lightroom Classic. The course demystifies the post-production workflow for photographers and creatives alike, offering a structured yet explorative approach to image management, enhancement and export.

Through hands-on sessions and clear demonstrations, students will explore both the technical and creative aspects of Lightroom. We'll also touch on complementary tools such as Adobe Bridge and Camera RAW, providing a broader understanding of the digital photography ecosystem. From importing and cataloguing to detailed colour grading and final output, this course empowers students to take full control of their photographic vision.

During the course, students will learn to manage their image libraries using Smart Previews and metadata tools, perform powerful global and local edits via Camera RAW, and build efficient workflows using presets and batch editing.

By the end of the course, students will be able to confidently export work for both web and print, understanding how DPI, colour space and file formats influence output. The course emphasises creative confidence and technical fluency, enabling students to integrate Lightroom into their own personal or professional practices.

Who this course is for

This course is aimed at anyone interested in digital photography. It welcomes anyone looking to get to grips with using Lightroom for digital post-production.

Previous experience in photographic post-production is not required however we recommend some form of experience with digital photography.
