Materials

  • At least one piece of old/vintage clothing that you find exciting and don't mind cutting up
  • Materials to embellish a garment surface such as fabrics, textiles, old shells, beads, ribbon, cardboard or any interesting scrap materials

If possible please bring:

  • A camera / camera phone to record the process of making the work and the outcomes
  • A laptop or tablet for research
  • If you have, any current sketchbooks or materials you enjoy using

Tutor

Daniela Bomba

Daniela is a womenswear designer, print designer and creative consultant. She has worked both in London and abroad for luxury fashion houses and brands, and tutored at Central Saint Martins. Daniela began her studies at Ravensbourne College of Art Design and Communication and completed her Masters in Fashion Womenswear at Central Saint Martins. She has worked for a number of fashion labels including Jonathan Saunders and Luella as a designer and as consultant to brands including Adam Andrascik and Selfridges. Daniela is a lead tutor womenswear on the Fashion Folio course at Central Saint Martins.

Marie Fillon

Also known as Monique Fei, Marie Fillon is a French designer and artist working at the intersection of craft, couture, fashion and performance. A 2022 graduate of Central Saint Martins with a BA in Textile Design specialising in Knitwear, her work merges crochet, knitwear, and latex into meticulously handcrafted, wearable sculptures that playfully challenge conventions of form, material, and identity.

Her work has been featured at galleries such as ICA (London), Bourse de Commerce (Paris) and Hamburger Bahnhof (Berlin), and has staged performance-based runway shows during Paris Fashion Week in 2023 and 2024. She has collaborated with prominent artists and performers including FKA Twigs, Chappell Roan, Jennie, Lily McMenamy and Caroline Polachek.

She also assists and teaches Fashion courses at Central Saint Martins since 2023.

Meiyu Song

Meiyu Song is a London based fashion designer who specialises in fashion knitwear. She is Korean Chinese and grew up in Japan. 

She graduated from Central Saint Martins BA textile in 2018 and Central Saint Martins MA fashion in 2020. Her final collection was sponsored by LVMH Loro piana , Swarovski and Kyototex.

While she was a student she interned with Apujan for London fashion week and Derek Lawlor for Chinese fashion week. She has also worked as a helper tutor for Central Saint Martins knitting short course.

Her work has been featured in PAP, Clash, TANK, MOEVIR, KALTBLUT, PUSS PUSS, Contributor, French Fries and many other magazines.

She has done many collaborations with upcoming singers and also the world famous rock band group Def Leppard, who used her garments and jewelleries for a video in their latest album.

Her garments are unique for both textiles and fashion. All her work is original, bespoke, hand made and made from scratch.

She knits with domestic knitting machine, dubied, crochet and hand knitting. She knits from head to toe. Her work covers not only clothes but also hats, jewelleries, gloves, nails, bags and shoes.

Talia Lipkin-Connor

Talia Lipkin-Connor currently teaches on the Womenswear and Menswear final year BA courses at the London College of Fashion. Talia graduated from Central Saint Martins with a BA and MA in Womenswear Fashion and specialises in research, draping and illustration. She is the founder and creative director of the brand Talia Byre, which she started in 2020. Having worked for Alexander McQueen and Paul Smith in their runway teams, Talia loves sharing her experience of the industry and teaching students the skills that she has learnt.

René de Lange

René de Lange's journey as a creative force began in her childhood, surrounded by the vibrant colours and natural beauty of South Africa. From drawing on her mother’s walls to immersing herself in collage, painting, and depicting African wildlife, René’s passion for art was undeniable. These early explorations laid the foundation for her distinctive design approach—bold, imaginative, and deeply rooted in storytelling.

After completing her MA in Fashion printed Textiles at the prestigious Royal College of Art, René carved out a successful career as a Print Designer, collaborating with renowned brands such as Ted Baker, Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, and Age of Reason. Her designs have graced luxury collections and been featured in Elle Decoration, reflecting her ability to fuse artistic creativity with commercial appeal. Always starting with hand drawn illustrations, René’s process is a celebration of craftsmanship, capturing the essence of timeless, statement making prints.

René’s creative ambitions extend beyond fashion, with the launch of her own creative brand and active participation in Artists’ Open Houses and community projects. Through these ventures, she continues to inspire and connect with others, bringing her vibrant designs into everyday life.

As a Fashion Lecturer, René blends her extensive industry experience with a dynamic teaching style that encourages students to embrace their individuality. She is passionate about nurturing the next generation of designers, equipping them with the skills and confidence to thrive in the competitive world of fashion. Guided by the ethos of Central Saint Martins, René celebrates exploration and innovation, empowering students to create portfolios that stand out and embody their unique visions.

Deeply committed to sustainability and meaningful design, René believes in fashion as both an art form and a platform for expression. Her work and teaching reflect a shared goal: to inspire creativity that is as impactful as it is beautiful.

Alice Wellbeloved

Alice Wellbeloved has worked as head knitwear designer for numerous luxury brands including Christian Lacroix, Sonia Rykiel and Viktor and Rolf. She also teaches textiles, fashion and knitwear at Foundation and BA level at Central Saint Martins. Alice has a BA in Textile Design and a MA in Fashion Knitwear from Central Saint Martins.
