Introduction to Tailoring Short Course
Course description
This exciting course is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of bespoke tailoring. A tailoring apprentice will take 7 years to perfect their craft, so perhaps you want to have a taste before you commit, or just understand more about this complex and secret industry?
The course will combine some practical making exercises and will be taught by expert tutors from our degree programmes.
Who should attend Introduction to Tailoring short course?
This course is suitable for Beginners. You should have an interest in the subject area and a desire to learn but no previous experience is required.
Clear, easy to understand lessons:
- Our tutors will explain things in easy to understand, accessible English. If they need to use any special terminology they will make sure they explain what they mean.
- New methods will be shown to students through live demonstrations, in a way thats crystal clear and easy to understand.

In order to fully participate in the practical exercises please bring the following materials/equipment to the first class:
- Tailor/fabric scissors
- Unpickers
- Camera
- Tailor's thimble (open ended) – to fit your middle finger on the hand you hold the needle with
