Through a combination of lectures, practical exercises and hands-on activities, this 5-week evening course will teach you how to develop different styles of dresses from a size 12 block pattern.

During the course, you will learn pattern cutting techniques that are transferable to other garments, while exploring the various dress styles and pattern-cutting techniques and adapting these patterns for various dress styles.

This course has been designed for complete beginners wanting to start exploring pattern cutting techniques and pattern making. It would also be a great choice for anyone with pattern making experience who would like to learn more about this garment style and improve their skills.

Nicholas Williams

Nicholas Williams is an expert pattern cutter, garment technologist and designer. In 2012 he founded Thomas Bowler with the aim to provide fashion designers with high quality patterns that translate their designs from sketch to final production ready patterns. In 2008 Nicholas worked as a designer, pattern cutter and maker for the London Olympic Games Handover ceremony as part of the Beijing Games, working in both the London design rooms and in Beijing. He has freelanced for a range of brands including Alexander McQueen, Duckie Brown, ASOS, Topman and Carolyn Massey.
