Course description

Course overview

On this online short course, students will be given guidance into the more complex usage of CLO3D software for 3D fashion design, specifically for pattern cutting.

All the pattern editing tools will be explained in depth to give you full control over darts, angles, measurements, rotation, cut and spread, walk pattern, point of measurement, notches and seam allowances.

We’ll start off drafting a pattern from scratch in CLO3D and learn how to edit a block following specific measurements. You’ll also be shown how to make changes for different designs.

You’ll learn how to set grain directions and use print layouts for fabric glazing costings, as well as how to extract measurements from a CLO3D pattern for use in a tech pack.

You’ll also learn more technical skills such as drafting a collar lapel from scratch, giving you practical insight into how to use pattern tools.

The course will also cover fit maps and how to use the fabric creator for realistic fabric settings - this is to support accurate fit of patterns.

Who this course is for

This course is ideal for those who have some understanding of pattern cutting and want to learn more about pattern drafting in CLO3D for 3D visualisation and industry use.

Some understanding of garment construction is expected, but this does not have to be in digital format. If you have made any garments in real life this is also a relevant skill.
