Originally from Argentina, Cindy moved to London a few years before starting her Masters course at UAL. She shares her advice for future UAL students along with some tips to help them make the most of their experience.

“After moving from country to country trying to find a course that reflected my interests, I came across MA Textile Design at Chelsea College of Arts. All of the topics, and especially the strong focus on sustainability, were relevant to my career. It really was the perfect course.

I’m currently researching hidden languages in textiles, exploring how different cultures engage the body to communicate to the world. As I come from Patagonia, the materials I work with are of huge importance; for my main material, I’m using wool produced to regenerate the grassland and fight against the desertification of the landscape.

"The support offered opens many doors, not only for personal and creative development, but for professional development as well."

My course has really helped me to improve my English language and communication skills as well as my artistic skills. Take advantage of all the tools offered by UAL, like language support, memberships, and free access to exhibitions. The facilities, workshops and support we get from all the technicians is incredible.

"I came to London two years ago and fell in love with the city."

From exhibitions and fairs to the underground scene, London is a cosmopolitan city brimming with artists. I’ve lived in cities like Buenos Aires, Berlin and Barcelona... nothing compares to the amount of things available in London! Accommodation can be expensive, but if you look carefully there are options to suit every budget.

My advice to future students would be to enjoy every second of your time at UAL – the results could be unexpected and amazing.”
