The efforts of artists, and designers has always inspired and readily enamored me, in a world surrounded by fast, cheap, and soul-less. While we cannot completely and immediately remove ourselves from objects and buying at this present moment, we can perhaps, engage with products in a way that is thoughtful and considerate of materials, labour, and audience?

For this holiday season, I thought that showcasing the efforts of many UAL post-graduate students, alumni, and researchers was the best way to not only support a community of artists, but to instigate dialogue and cross-pollination amongst a range of makers and audiences.

On Friday, 6 December 2019, over 25 postgraduate student vendors across the 6 UAL campuses converged to sell their handmade work and wares at Central Saint Martins. From houseplants to ceramics to lounge wear - all possibilities and gift opportunities were readily accounted for through the efforts of a diverse range of students from many disparate disciplines and interests. Not to mention, the abundance of free mince pies, fruit and mulled wine available to all who visited!

While this event was a chance for artists to support fellow artists, UAL staff was also able to readily support their students as well. Thanks to the mighty efforts of Post-Graduate Community team Rachael Lakhan and Abigail Fletcher, this wonderful event was made possible for so many makers and has opened up many opportunities for future market possibilities.
