A new podcast series by Post-Grad Community Ambassador Abi Rigby (MA Fashion Futures, London College of Fashion, 2024). STREST launches soon.

As the host of new podcast STREST, I’m on a search to find out how to make it as a creative without ‘selling out’ or giving up.

Inspired by the Nap Ministry and ‘radical resting’ movements, this podcast attempts to uncover vital tips and tricks to help us value our wellbeing in a Capitalist world of work.

As someone who has a habit if work/burn out/work/burn out (anyone else?), it might seem a bit ironic that I’m adding another job to my list. But, I’m here to learn alongside listeners and to ask the questions often forgotten in a bid to hold up our savvy reputations while not seeming like shallow corporate fiends, like:

What’s the point in socialising if it’s not going to further my career?
Is it antifeminist to never want to work again?
How can I save the world when I don’t have time to descale my kettle?
Will my social media reach improve if I include my feet in every post?

And the more serious:

Is doing what I love worth it if I’m burnt out trying to make it happen?

Each interview will be a part of my own journey towards a sustainable work/life balance. I’ll be chatting with people across various fields, from designers to community organisers and wellbeing officers. Tune in for insightful interviews, thought-provoking discussions, and the camaraderie of shared experiences.

We’ll deep dive into industries where sacrificing your personal life is a statement of your dedication (fashion, I’m looking at you), and address the impact of social media on 24/7 work commitments and information overload. STREST leaves no stone unturned in the quest for a healthier, more fulfilling creative life.

Get in touch if you’d like to be involved.
