UAL’s Post-Grad Community hosted an afternoon of life drawing within the serene confines of a Tablé, the 2023 Serpentine Pavilion. Newcomers from across UAL's colleges gathered to sketch and photograph Laia Lykke de Lemos (Graduate in Fashion Contour, LCF) against the stunning backdrop of this architecturally striking space.
Globally renowned architect, Lina Ghotmeh, designed a Tablé to be a welcoming, communal hub, echoing Post-Grad Community’s spirit of creative collaboration.
The workshop was calmly guided by Beth Seeboo, a London-based, multidisciplinary artist who works in sculpture, casting, drawing, collage, performance, textiles, embroidery, photography, and recent graduate from CSM’s Fine Art programme.
Across 2 sessions, students worked quickly with pencils and charcoal to sketch subtle movements and to accentuate the natural light and shadows organically created through the structure’s airy design.
This connection between nature and design extended to Laia’s remarkable upcycled fashions. Crafted from recycled textiles and objects, her playful creations evoked creative inspiration throughout the day.
By the end of the day, participants had expanded their creative skills and made new connections across UAL's community.
“A really inspiring experience, lifted up by our community’s creativity”
“Thank you all so much for facilitating/hosting/organising the sessions – not only lovely to do some drawing but FAB to get out and meet some other postgrad beauties”
“Had the best time as a complete life drawing novice! Very accessible and I felt super comfortable”.
UAL's Post-Grad Community is dedicated to empowering students' development while building an inclusive, thriving environment for collaboration and connection.
