Frank Bowling Foundation Scholarships

Eligibility

To be eligible for The Frank Bowling Foundation Scholarships, students must be:

• considered a Home student for tuition fees purposes and
• Enrolled on one of the full-time courses below at UAL starting in September 2026:
  • MA Fine Art course at Chelsea College of Arts or
  • MA Fine Art: Painting course at Camberwell College of Arts with the primary

About

Established in 2014 as the Frank Bowling Scholarships, the programme has supported postgraduate Fine Art students at Chelsea College of Arts for more than a decade. From this year, it has become The Frank Bowling Foundation Scholarships, expanding its support to students at both Chelsea and Camberwell College of Arts.

Founded by artist Sir Frank Bowling OBE RA, a Chelsea alumnus and former tutor at Camberwell and Byam Shaw School of Art (now Central Saint Martins), The Frank Bowling Foundation continues his longstanding commitment to supporting emerging artists and widening access to creative education.

Sir Frank Bowling is one of the most influential British artists of the last century, renowned internationally for his pioneering contribution to contemporary painting. Over more than six decades, his work has inspired generations of artists and is held in major collections around the world.

The Foundation is dedicated to advancing worldwide public understanding and appreciation of the visual arts through the work of Sir Frank Bowling, education, research, and access, while helping to nurture the next generation of artists.

Receiving payment

The scholarship will provide a contribution towards tuition fees.

Tuition fees will be paid directly from the award into the University’s tuition fees account.
