How to get your project approved first time

A brief introduction of yourself. Your artistic background and experience, the inspiration and motivation behind your work.

Every Showcase project requires a profile image. If you don't want to add profile image, you can use a graphic or illustration instead.

Make sure you add a title that represents your project. Your project description should be at least 2 sentances. The project description must explain the concept behind your work.

A valid email address is important. It allows potential employers or collaborators to contact you directly about your work. Include a non-UAL email address so you can still be contacted once your UAL email expires.

If you include your phone number, use the correct international code. For example, +44 for the United Kingdom.

Write in clear, accessible language to allow viewers to understand your work. Avoid using acronyms and jargon. Before publishing, draft and edit your writing.

Use an app like Hemingway to check the spelling and grammar of your writing. You could also ask someone to proofread it for you. If your submission includes non-English content, provide translations or explanations. This ensures the content is accessible to a wider audience.

When adding links to social media and your website, remember to include https:// and check the URL is correct. Ensure the social media accounts linked is related to your creative practice.

To include video, audio or 3D assets, you must link to the video on a third party website. This could be YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud or Sketchup. Make sure the URL is entered correctly and the content is publicly accessible.

If the media files (e.g. image, video, audio, PDF) in your project are missing or not displaying correctly, the project will be sent back to you. Check all required fields are complete and your files are in the correct format.

Check the file type and sizes that can be uploaded. Use high-resolution files and check they are displaying correctly. Remember to preview your project to spot any errors.

Alt (alternative) text describes an image for visually impaired users and can display in place of an image if it fails to show. Make sure you complete the alt text field for every project image.

We do not support hateful or derogatory content. Any projects containing such content or messaging will be rejected.

If you are sharing a personal experience, you must make this clear in the project description. Within the content, be mindful of the language used.

If your project includes content created by others, they must be clearly credited. Credit any external content appropriately, or we are required to take it down.

The use of stolen or copyrighted material is strictly prohibited on UAL Showcase. Do not include any content that you do not have the permission or rights to use.

If your project contains AI-generated content, you must credit the AI tool or AI model used.

There is a limit of 1 Showcase project per student. Additional projects will not be approved. Select the correct Showcase project for submission.

If submitting a collaborative Showcase project, you must include the students you worked with on the project.

Once your Showcase project is approved, it will be scheduled to be published on UAL Showcase alongside other student projects from your course.

If your project is rejected, you will be sent an email explaining what needs to be changed. You'll be able to log back into Portfolio to make the changes required.

Once you are happy with your changes, you can re-submit your project for approval.
