Help your project stand out

Upload the best version of your final project to UAL Showcase.

Research shows that creative industry professionals use Showcase to seek out new talent. Teams across UAL also look for inspiring content.

In fact, 30% of graduates on Showcase have had a career opportunity as a direct result of uploading their work.

Practical tips to get your project noticed

With UAL's range of courses, there is no definition of what makes a standout Showcase project. But the best ones do the following:

Tell a convincing story

Your profile and project description should convey what your project is about. The description should be clear and concise.

This allows your project to be quoted on social media, collections and other formats.

Read Artquest’s guide to writing about your work.

Make sure people can contact you

Your UAL email will soon expire so make sure that you have included a non-UAL email address.

Check that any social media links are to professional accounts currently in use.

Read UAL’s Careers and Employability guides to networking and making a good impression in professional contexts and promoting yourself online, but always exercise caution.

UAL also has a guide to keeping yourself and your work safe online which is worth a read too.

Use good images

  • Avoid images with text overlay, as they are not accessible and cannot be used on UAL’s social media channels.
  • For non-visual projects (such as journalism, business, or dissertations), include a header image.
  • For photobooks or zines, include images from the project, as well as the PDF.
  • Include a variety of well-lit, well composed photos.
  • Include video content that can be cut into social media clips.
  • Provide a mix of landscape and portrait images.
  • Show products or artworks from different angles and in different contexts.
  • You can source free-to-use images through Creative Commons.

Share your process

Although the Research and process section is optional, there is value in showing your workings. Visitors are interested in your process as well as the final outcome.

Where relevant, include:

  • sketches
  • moodboards
  • behind the scenes shots
  • concept art
  • and inspiration that give an insight into your concept and creative process.

We're excited to see what you upload. Sign up to Portfolio to create your profile and get started.
