Ready to explore what’s possible? Creative Business Internships give you the chance to gain real, hands-on experience with businesses built by UAL graduates. It’s your opportunity to learn directly from people who’ve turned their creative ideas into thriving ventures.
We’re thrilled to share Edward Kanu’s journey as a recent graduate of Fashion Journalism and Content Creation at the London College of Fashion, who embarked on an internship at ZEROTEC, a fashion-tech start-up.
How has doing the internship helped to develop your skills?
My organisational skills have improved tremendously with this internship. Having to plan the content I create on a weekly basis helped me to log it all down with clarity which helps in meetings where I’m asked to talk about my content ideas/schedule.
Has the internship given you more confidence to set up your own business or work for yourself in the future?
I wouldn’t say it’s made me more confident but it has opened my eyes to the amount of work that such a small team can manage to do.
What were the barriers to internships before you saw this opportunity?
Getting experience in this current job market is hard as it is and paid experience is almost unheard of so getting the opportunity to have this on my CV and connect with people has helped tremendously.
Do you think this might help you grow your confidence?
It already has helped me grow my confidence as a worker. I’ve managed to extend my portfolio of work and has helped me navigate working in a professional setting in the job role I wanted.
What would you say to someone thinking of applying next year?
Do it. This programme was so helpful for building up experience, that I feel I didn’t get to do enough during university, and expanding my network which are things that every student wishes to have. The opportunities after the initial 3 months are endless, it’s all based on how much you put in.
