We are providing an update following the email from Mark Crawley, Dean of Students - ‘A message regarding trans and non-binary inclusion’.

UAL is committed to ensuring an inclusive learning environment where trans and non-binary students can feel safe and supported and we continue to protect the rights of all students.

We want to hear student views on both our Equality and Inclusion Policy and Trans and Non-Binary Student guidance. This an opportunity to have your voice heard as part of the review process.

We are holding 2 consultation sessions:

  • Wednesday 1 October 12-1.30pm – this will be a closed session for trans and non-binary students
  • Wednesday 1 October 2-3.30pm – this will be an open session for all students

Please see further details of the closed session and open session on Arts Temps, the closing date for applications is Thursday 25 September 2025.

Please note, the sessions participant list will be kept confidential, and all feedback will be anonymised. There will be a notetaker for the session, but they will not be recorded.

If you have any questions, please contact edi@arts.ac.uk.

Next Steps

The aim is for a policy to be considered by the Court of Governors in the Autumn term. This timeline is dependent on the timeframes for national guidance from the Equality of Human Rights Commission. We'll keep you updated if there are any changes.
