Sunghoon Song

Biography

Sunghoon Song is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher based in London and Seoul.

His practice-led research investigates the conditions through which embodiment can re-emerge within digital environments where bodily experience is often relegated to the background of perception. Drawing from phenomenology, embodiment studies, and media philosophy, his work explores how artistic interventions can bring bodily awareness back into the foreground of experience.

Working primarily through installation-based moving image practices, he combines moving image, sound, light, spatial composition, movement, and interactive systems to create environments that reconfigure relationships between body, technology, and space.

His recent work focuses on artistic conditions such as sensory misalignment, spatial disorientation, and spatial montage, examining how these conditions reshape perception and transform the body from an unnoticed medium of experience into an explicit object of awareness.

Sunghoon holds a BA in Film and Philosophy from SKKU and an MA in Digital Direction from the Royal College of Art. He is currently undertaking a PhD at the University of the Arts London (UAL), where he is developing a practice-led framework for understanding the re-foregrounding of embodiment in digital art.
