Stella  Doukianou


Stella Doukianou is a Senior Lecturer, Year Leader, and Placements Coordinator for the BSc Creative Computing. Stella's background is in engineering, digital media, computer science, and computer games. For the last ten years, she is focusing on designing and developing Serious Games and VR/AR experiences. From concept to evaluation, Stella is working to gamify experiences with a focus on using AR and VR, bringing together creativity and technology.

Stella has worked in several EU (FP7 and HORIZON 2020) funded research projects regarding energy, culture, and IoT (OrbEEt, EMOTIVE, COSMOS) focusing on the development of gamification framework or the effectiveness of serious games. Before joining academia as a lecturer, Stella worked as a research consultant for a couple of IT software houses in London, specialising in games that were used for assessment, engagement, awareness, and behavioural interventions.

Stella holds an MSc in Design and Digital Media from the University of Edinburgh and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Coventry University.
