Biography

Sebastian May is a creative practitioner, researcher, and student experience professional at the University of the Arts London. As Student Success Manager at UAL Online, he works at the intersection of student engagement, communications, and the design of meaningful learning experiences for creative students studying online.

Alongside his professional practice, Sebastian has a research interests centred on creative connectedness — exploring how creative people form, sustain, and make meaning through connection with others and with their practice. He works across assemblage theory, narrative inquiry, and arts-based research methods.

Sebastian is an active creative practitioner. His multidisciplinary practice spans collage and assemblage, painting, illustration, photography, and writing, with found and recycled materials central to his making. Connectedness is the organising theme across all his work. Recent work includes a contribution to What is an Art Book? Vol. 4 by The Modern Language Experiment, and participation in Practice MAkes Practice, a group exhibition at Lime Grove Library, London (March 2026). Sebastian lives and works in London.
