Biography

Kira Salter is Course Leader and Senior Lecturer for BA Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Her teaching centres on inclusive pedagogy, foregrounding peer learning, co-creation, and participation. She is interested in how learning communities are formed and how educational experiences can be designed to support collective knowledge production and meaningful engagement. She holds an MA in Academic Practice and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Her research investigates collaborative learning communities, participatory curriculum practices, and the role of pedagogy in shaping the futures of graphic design. Current projects explore participation within digital spaces, the potential of co-creative approaches to reimagine curricula, and the graduation project as a site of disciplinary formation.

Kira's background is in graphic, information, and experience design. She is interested in how structure, organisation, and context shape communication and support audience understanding. Her professional experience spans print and digital media, including work within design studios and freelance collaborations with organisations in the charity and social-impact sectors.

Drawing on design methods and ways of thinking, Kira uses a designerly approach to shape learning experiences and educational environments. She creates frameworks that foster clarity, reflection, collaboration, and dialogue
