Biography
Judy is Head of Museum & Study Collection at Central Saint Martins and a Senior Research Fellow with an interest in museology, archives, curation and object-based learning. She also has expertise in arts, health and wellbeing, art and design histories and the history of art and design teaching practices.Judy is well connected to the wider museum sector, having served for many years on the Museums Association Ethics Committee and Chaired the London Museums Group from 2011 – 2016. Between 2011 and 2017 Judy also lead on the Share Academy programme, an Arts Council funded project exploring the challenges and benefits of partnerships between universities and museums. More recently, Judy co-founded the Connecting Collections in Art and Design Education network with Polly Christie of Glasgow School of Art.
Judy has supervised several PhD students to completion and is currently completing her own PhD in Object-based learning, art and design collections and the art school: mobilising material culture to support art and design teaching practice in tertiary education.
