Biography
Junming Chen (Jimmy) is an interdisciplinary artist and researcher based in London. After graduating from MA Digital Direction at the Royal College of Art, his current research PhD within UAL Creative Computing Institute is looking at the intersection of Posthumanism, Queer Theory, and multisensory HCI. Challenging normative paradigms through embodied methodologies, Jimmy’s current doctoral research, ‘Queering with Fungi,’ explores multispecies interrelations. Through auto-ethnography and critical biodata sonification, he embraces The Queer Art of Failure to position fungal companions as active collaborators, disrupting extractivist technological paradigms and advocating for radical reattunement.Recently a panellist at Harvard University’s Collaborations Afield conference, Jimmy's work offers critical, embodied frameworks for sensing and coexisting in an entangled world. He is also a contributor to the conference/workshop "Rethinking Anthropocentrism: New Technologies and More-than-Human Sensing" in Leiden, The Netherlands.
