Biography

Dr. Graeme Spurr is a lecturer in Academic Support at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London. His research has previously examined media shifts in UK amateur cinematography after 1965, exploring the widespread migration of practitioners to video, or ‘magnetic’ formats. He taught film studies modules at the University of Glasgow from 2009-2015, and worked in the Student Learning Service before starting at UAL.

Graeme has also assisted in qualitative investigations of learning development funds for the Higher Education Academy, and has a broad interest in learning development research situated within arts and media subjects.

His historical discussion of the first UK amateur video competition has been published by Indiana University Press in early 2021, as part of an edited collection on global amateur film-making.
