Dr Gracia Ramirez

Biography

Gracia Ramirez is Senior Lecturer in Film and Screen Studies at London College of Communication, University of the Arts London.


Her research focuses on the intersections between aesthetics and histories of film and other arts. She has published a book on the history of American experimental and independent cinema during the Cold War and several articles on art and media in urban spaces, propaganda, the representation of history in news documentaries, found footage and essay films. Her current work addresses memory, location and postcolonial relations.


Gracia has carried out research at several archives and institutions in Europe and the U.S. She writes art criticism and has published texts for exhibition catalogues and artist’s books. She also has a creative practice using mixed media.
