Biography

Elisa Adami is a researcher, editor and writer. Through writing, editorial and translation projects, her research explores questions of decolonisation in relation to archives, historical narratives and the politics of language and translation. As Research Fellow and Editor at Afterall, she manages the One Work and Two Works book series, as well as being part of the editorial team of Afterall journal. Previously, Elisa was the Coordinator of Research Residency programmes at UAL’s Decolonising Art Institute, where she was researcher-in-residence on the postdoctoral programme Decolonising Archives in 2020. Elisa completed her PhD in 2019 at the Royal College of Art in London. Her dissertation focused on radical historiographical practices in the work of Lebanese artists of the postwar generation. She has taught at several institutions, including the Royal College of Art, Kingston University and Central Saint Martins. Together with Anthony Downey, Elisa is Associate Editor of the book series Research/Practice, published by Sternberg Press and she is Managing Editor of the forthcoming Nida Sinnokrot: Palestine is not a Garden (2022).
