Biography

Beki Gowing is a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Enterprise at London College of Fashion, where she leads the award-bearing full year Enterprise Option for the Fashion Business School. Her teaching and research centre on enterprise education, social learning, and peer coaching within creative and entrepreneurial contexts.

She is a founding member and co-lead of the Creative Fashion Enterprise (CFE) Research Hub where her work explores how creative practitioners develop entrepreneurial capabilities through coaching, collaboration and reflection. Recent outputs investigate the impact of loneliness on creative entrepreneurs and using structured peer coaching training to build entrepreneurial communities. She is currently developing a guidebook presenting her team’s experience and recommendations for embedding enterprise competencies within the creative curriculum.

A Level 7 ILM-accredited coach, mentor, and experienced creative business consultant, Beki supports startups and SMEs through Enterprise Nation and Hatch Enterprise, translating academic insights into practical tools for creative growth. Her dual perspective as educator and entrepreneur informs her research and teaching practice, connecting theory with lived experience.

Before joining academia, Beki worked in buying for John Lewis & Partners and went on to found Print & Press London, a textile design studio with clients including The White Company, Liberty, and the Royal Opera House. While at university she launched The Nines, a pre-loved designer clothing boutique, and she has run creative workshops in London and the South East encouraging experimentation with textiles to build social connections.
