Biography

Dr Anna Klamet is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Media at the London College of Communication (University of the Arts London) teaching across BA Magazine Journalism and Publishing and MA Publishing. She holds a PhD in Publishing Studies from Edinburgh Napier University where she conducted research on e-publishing practices of publishing houses in small nations in Europe. Before joining LCC in 2021, Anna was a Lecturer in Publishing and Book Culture at Edinburgh Napier University and has worked in the media sector in various roles before pursuing her PhD.

Anna’s research interests centre around media management and small nation cultural production with a focus on minority languages, globalisation and identity. She is also interested in digital publishing, entrepreneurship and innovative new business models as a result of digital disruption.

From 2021 till 2023 she was a post-doctoral researcher on a BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research) funded research project on open access publishing in the humanities and social sciences in Germany. The joint research project “AuROA – Authors and Legal Certainty for Open Access” investigated current publishing practices in the humanities and social sciences by bringing together all relevant stakeholders in the academic publishing process. The findings resulted in modular contract templates for open access publications. The project was led by the Duisburg-Essen University Library, working jointly with the Communication and Management department at the IST University of Applied Sciences (IST) in Düsseldorf as well as the Book Studies department at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU).

Anna is also the co-leader of the Creative Industries Management Research Hub, based at London College of Communication, which aims to consolidate and explore current research in this area as well as build research networks externally and across UAL.
