Alex Clarke

Biography

Alex Clarke’s work as an artist functions across his own practice, lecturing and occasionally a collaborative project space.
Through text and visual languages, Clarke’s work in each role is engaged with the networks, conditions and politics of relations between the personal and public; dialogue and discourse; meaning and legibility; research, practice and living.

His studio and exhibition-making practice focusses on the dialogues, relationships and forms of exchange that occur at the peripheries of a public-facing practice, often featuring articulations of personhood in states of dissolution, drift, and plurality. Primarily engaged with writing and painting, Clarke's work also makes use of clothing, furniture, sculpture, photography, video, and installation.

With artists Ariane Schick and Daniel Lipp, Clarke intiated and organises Hope Sandoval, a project space in London.
