Biography
Honorary Doctor
Born in Nigeria, Inua Ellams is an internationally touring poet, playwright, performer, graphic artist and designer. Inua is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature as well as a Complete Works poet alumni. He facilitates workshops in creative writing where he explores reoccurring themes of his work: identity, displacement and destiny.
He recently completed his first full poetry collection The Actual and is currently touring An Evening With An Immigrant, as well as working on several commissions across stage and screen. In graphic art and design, online and in print, Inua mixes the old with the new, juxtaposing texture and pigment with flat colour and vector graphics.
Inua Ellams has been awarded an MBE for Services to the Arts in the King's Birthday Honours.
He lives and works in London, where he founded the Midnight Run, a nocturnal urban excursion.
