Biography

Previously a senior lecturer and course leader in the School of Design at London College of Communication, Catherine's current work is in educational development across UAL. She leads the Academic Practice team and supports colleagues in designing and conducting educational research.

Catherine is currently undertaking a part-time professional doctorate at Duncan and Jordanstone College of Art and Design at the University of Dundee, working towards a ethnographic study, which will explore socio-material relations in art school workshop learning at UAL. Her research interests include art school pedagogy, leadership and arts-based educational research.

She also edits Spark: UAL’s Creative Teaching and Learning Journal and was a founder member of the Graphic Design Educators’ Network, the UK’s national subject association for graphic design.

Since 2023 she has been Treasurer for GLAD, the UK's Group for Learning in Art & Design Higher Education.
