In June, the Alumni of Colour Association is holding an event on festival culture which includes an exhibition showcasing the work of UAL alumni of colour.
We’d love to showcase your work as part of this exhibition. We’re accepting submissions in any digital media and are particularly keen to see performance-based submissions.
The brief
We’re looking for digital work that celebrates festival culture: how do you, your family, friends, and community celebrate? We’re not defining what 'festival' means; these celebrations can be traditional or progressive and can involve ritual, religion, food, music and much more.
As well as being shown at the event, all selected work will be included in an online publication and shared with our global alumni community.
To enter
Email us your work and include:
- A short explanation of the piece (no more than 150 words)
- Your full name
- Your UAL alumni ID number
- Your year of graduation from UAL
Email submissions to: aoca@arts.ac.uk
The deadline for submissions has been extended to Wednesday 25 May.
AoCA Festival Culture event and exhibition
The AoCA Festival Culture event and exhibition is taking place on Wednesday 1 June 2022 at The Tabernacle, Notting Hill, the home of Carnival. We’d love for you to come along to this event where you’ll also hear from Matthew Phillip, CEO of Carnival, and meet up with fellow UAL alumni of colour to celebrate the way we celebrate!
This event will be hosted by the AoCA, in collaboration with the East Coast Alumni Association as part of International Black Heritage + History Month.
