“A key role of an art and design college is to nurture, empower and enable the emergent work of its students. Hence the tag line of this year’s shows – #CSMemerge and the identity of a fluid, fluctuating form that is affected by external influences, bristling with an energy that extends far beyond the walls of the College. This year, more than ever, our students have opened up to the outside world: reacting to, commenting on, reframing and redrawing the multiple forces to which they have been exposed.”
– Jeremy Till, Head of Central Saint Martins
The 2018 Degree Shows revolve around an interactive design identity. Beginning as a pure white sphere, the shape pulses and changes colour as the shows draw near. Online activity including tweets and the number of Instagram posts per minute alter the boundaries of the form, manifesting the buzz of activity within the College as our students prepare for the shows. Once we open our doors, visitors, sound, movement and physical interaction will affect the form in real-time. Come and see what work has emerged this year and become part of our community as it shifts and evolves.
