June Fish - Print and Dye

Tell us about yourself…

I studied at Chelsea College on a public art course and I found I really loved screen-printing, so then I finished off my degree in Winchester in Printed Textiles, where I also did my postgraduate course. I then freelanced for a bit before getting the technicians job at Central Saint Martins and I’ve been here 12 years now!

What do you love most about your job?

I love demonstrating the skills and showing students how to do things because you get a really good reaction from it – they’re always really engaged and interested. You also get to meet lots of different people and characters!

Who or what is your biggest inspiration?

I’m a bit retro. I love graphic style printing so my favourite has to be Russian Constructivism.

What advice would you give to new and/or current students?

Don’t be afraid to try things out – just get stuck in.
