Orsalia Dimitriou

Spatial Practices Programme; Stage 3 Design Tutor, BA Architecture.

I am a practicing architect and a researcher. I hold a Diploma in Architecture Engineering from NTUAthens and an MA in Art and Architecture and from UPC in Barcelona.

I am currently a PhD Candidate at the department of Visual Cultures in Goldsmiths University of London and my thesis is focusing on public space, democracy and social movements using as a research method both theory and visual media.

My research interests include design as a political tool, urban insurgencies, grassroot practices, theatrical and ephemeral interventions in urban space, participatory design and social sustainability.

I have practiced architecture in Athens, Barcelona and London and have taught at the BA in Interior Architecture and Design in UCA Canterbury and at the MA in Contemporary Art Theory in Goldsmiths.

I am the co-director of SYN, an interdisciplinary design studio based in London.
