Biography

Jane Penty is a practicing designer and educator. Her current research is focused on the creative challenge of design to transform what and how we produce and consume, that naturally leads to why? It asks the pertinent question ‘How can the products we design add social, environmental and economic value rather than simply do less harm?’

After graduating from the RCA and working for London design consultancies for many years, Jane’s research, education and design practices now emerge in response to each other.

In the last decade this has led to a diverse range of themes and activities revolving around public installations and competitions (Greenwich Millennium Village), (Portobello Green Lighting); community - education collaborations (project instigator and manager for the EU ERDF Interreg IIIa Avenue Verte Cyclestations Project); sustainable design strategies in education.
