Cath Caldwell

Graphic Communication Design Programme; Stage 1 Leader, BA Graphic Design.

Cath Caldwell is Senior Lecturer at Central Saint Martins on the Graphic Communication Design programme teaching information design and enterprise. Cath has second role at the University of the Arts, as Academic Coordinator for Enterprise and Employability.

As part of UAL’s Teaching and Learning Exchange, Cath is developing UAL’s research into the pedagogy of employability for the Higher Education Academy  and contributes to the debate on creative enterprise such as speaking at the International Enterprise Educators  conference.

She’s been a judge for UK’s Stack, BSME Rising Star and PPA awards and was recently nominated for a CSM teaching award.

As the author of two books: Editorial Design for Lawrence King and Winning Portfolios for Quarto, Cath spoke at Society of News Designers conference in Malmo and co-hosts the Modern Magazine conference. Formerly an editorial art director, working at Conde Nast in NYC and as Design Director for ELLE UK, ELLE Decoration, Guardian and BBC Worldwide, Cath co-founded the UK’s Editorial Designers Organisation: a non-profit design network and was director of design studio Belknap & Co with partner John Belknap based in Islington until 2006.
