What are your fondest memories of LCC?
Being part of a supportive, creative, insightful group of like-minded people.
What are you working at the moment?
Since completing my Screenwriting MA, I’ve segued into writing children’s books. I’m currently working on my fifth book for Penguin Random House.
If you could have been a writer for any film ever made which would it be?
The Shawshank Redemption. Hands down. Great film.
What three things couldn't you be creative without?
Paper and pen (I’m counting that as one), bit of Classic FM on in the background, coffee.
What are your future plans and ambitions?
As well as writing more children’s books, I’m also working on a novel for adults, a play and a feature film. I have ambitions to finish at least one of these things before the year is out.
What drives you to succeed?
I love what I do – writing children’s books, doing school visits, talking to pupils. But I still have so much I want to achieve and so many ideas that I’m just itching to get down on paper. And then rewrite. And then rewrite some more. I’m driven to keep writing because I’m constantly thinking up new stories I want to tell.
What three words would you use to best describe LCC?
Inclusive, supportive, encouraging.
Where in London do you go when you need a little inspiration?
Royal Festival Hall. I think they might start charging me rent.
