Amanda Johnston is Student Enterprise and Employability (SEE) Academic Coordinator at London College of Fashion, UAL.
Amanda studied for her BA in Fashion Design at Kingston University, and has practiced as a freelance designer for over 25 years, consulting for both U.K and U.S brands. She has designed collections and developed fashion products for various companies, involving direct liaison with manufacturers in Hong Kong, India, Greece and Turkey. She has also consulted on special projects for the Design Council on U.K based collaborative business development initiatives.
In addition to her current teaching on MA Fashion Futures, the Postgraduate Collaborative Unit and the Kering Competition, Amanda has also contributed to Sustainable Summer schools hosted by KEA in Denmark, The Centre For Sustainable Fashion and Nike, and the British Council in Slovenia. Amanda is consultant and curator of not-for-profit materials organisation The Sustainable Angle, and delivers industry Seminars in this role.
In 2015 Amanda joined the judging panel for The Sustainable Clothing Action Plan’s WRAP completion, and is a member of their working group.
Amanda is the co- author of Fabric For Fashion and Fabric for Fashion the Swatch Book (published by Laurence King in 2010, second editions published 2014.)
