Description

This is a practical and inspiring 6 week course on digital illustration that will overview a wide variety of digital illustration techniques. You will learn the basics of digital illustration using the Adobe software, and using a Wacom tablet we will explore different techniques from digital painting through to drawing and even short animation. 

At the end of each class we will also look at the work of other successful illustrators and practitioners around the world, gaining a better insight into the industry. For each week you’ll be given homework, which we will review during the following class. The amount of homework will be adaptable to your needs.

We will also embark on a journey into digital work exploration and how to maintain such research, as well as get advice from industry experts on how to best approach this discipline and its career paths, trends and opportunities.

Course outcomes
By the end of the course, you will have gained a good understanding of the various techniques used in digital illustration. You will also have gained valuable experience using your Wacom tablet, and be able to demonstrate how to apply your learning in different contexts such as vector and isometric illustration, illustrating for the screen, hand-drawing and effects as well as basic animation techniques using GIF.

Who should attend

This course is perfect for you if you are looking for basic knowledge that covers a lot of different topics and techniques, however we won’t be touching on too much in-depth knowledge. If you are looking for an introduction to digital illustration techniques in order to find the right path for you, this is the right course!

Tutor information

Simona Bunardzhieva is a Graphic Artist & Illustrator, Maker, Speaker and Educator.Since 2012 she has been working for various companies under her illustration business simoneone. Some examples of her projects are a collection of temporary tattoos for Paperself, illustrations for packaging for Herbina, a window display for Lightform, and most recently, a collaboration for an installation at Tate Modern for an Instagram private event. Patterns and textures, neon shades and pastel colours, Arabic art, attention to detail, animal species and organic geometry fascinate her, which she thinks is noticeable in her work. She gets her inspiration from different art fields like fine art, fashion, architecture and film, although she believes no human work can ever surpass nature's creations.
