Project Trans(m)it presents Phase Three, an immersive installation and performance created with dancers from four different countries. The multi-video installation, created entirely online, is edited and crafted to be in dialogue with one another. Phase Three shows the dance on many bodies across the world, and on specific nights, live dancers join the installation. Audience members are welcome to closely examine the transmitted movement, noting both similarities and contrasts among the dancers, separated physically by thousands of miles from each other.
Through an online toolkit, dancers from New York City, Japan, Madagascar, and Switzerland were asked to learn the movement through various platforms of software and social media outlets. The artists sent back what they learned, which in turn became a guideline for the live-performed choreography. Phase Three is the third performance of Project Trans(m)it's ongoing research: what is gained or lost when movement is learned over technology?
Founded in 2014, Project Trans(m)it is an international dance performance and research collaborative, exploring long-distance dance making via technology. Choreographed/Directed by co-founder Lora Allen. Dramaturgy/produced by Becca Weber and Wimbledon Space. On selected dates, Phase Three will feature a live performance by co-directors Megan Mizanty and Andrea Lanzetti.
