The Great Get Together in the Olympic Park is a free, family-focussed event which is part of a nationwide celebration of different communities, organised in partnership with the Jo Cox Foundation and The Big Lunch. This is the sixth year the event will have run in the Olympic Park, and will be the third year that London College of Fashion, UAL have contributed to the activities on the day.
Students from LCF’s costume and make-up courses will be showcased throughout performances on the day and Senior LCF Archivist, Susanna Cordner will be hosting a series of activities; including a t-shirt slogan design workshop for young people and talking to visitors about their relationship with clothes and fashion, and their thoughts on local fashion interests.
It’s also a great opportunity to learn more about the East Bank partners – the BBC, Sadler’s Wells, the Smithsonian Institution, UCL and the V&A alongside LCF – and the work they are already doing in the local area, as well as popular east London organisations including the Discover Story Centre, London Centre for Book Arts, Blackhorse Workshop and more.
No need to book a ticket - you can even bring along a picnic to enjoy, or make the most of the food and drink stalls sharing delicacies from all over the world. With over five different stages and zones, including a Family Zone and Breakin’ Convention tent, it’s a fantastic day out for people of all ages and a real highlight of summer at the Park.
