Friends of Millbank: Conflict Medicine
Dr Saleyha Ahsan is an emergency medicine doctor and a freelance filmmaker with a passion for current and foreign affairs. Currently she is a presenter on the BBC’s Trust Me I’m A Doctor and the One Show.  Dr. Ahsan’s long term area of interest is attacks against healthcare in conflict zones.

She served for three years in the army as a medical support officer with the Royal Army Medical Corps, which included a tour of Bosnia in 1997 as part of the Nato  Stablisation Force (SFOR). She was inspired by the amazing work done by army doctors on Bosnian trauma survivors, so she applied to study medicine. She was offered a place at the University of Dundee and never looked back.

In this lecture Dr Ahsan will outline some of the issues surrounding emergency medicine and the provision of healthcare in conflict zones.

Between 1900 and 2000, Chelsea’s Millbank Buildings housed the Royal Army Medical College. This event is presented by Friends of Millbank, who work with Chelsea College of Arts to keep the history of the Millbank site alive. Talks are free, all welcome.
