Polychromatic Screen Printing for Textiles
The course is designed to offer an insight into Screen Printing using the technique of Polychromatic printing. Polychromatic printing is a combination of Painting and Screen Printing. This is a technique used by working directly onto the silk screen in order to create and illustrate your designs through painting and mark making reproducing the same image several times. This technique is flexible and allows experimentation onto both fabric and paper.
The course is for all creative types who would like an insight into alternative screen-printing. Previous experience and knowledge of screen-printing would be useful but is not essential.
This is a practical hands on workshop designed to suit both experienced artists and beginners. Some Independent research would be useful. Please bring with you some visuals, patterns, photos and ideas you may want to use as inspiration for your designs. The course will be taught in a series of practical workshops demonstrating each of the processes, deconstructive, polychromatic and paper stencil screen-printing
The course is an experimental step into screen printing and can be adopted for use with t-shirts, bags or canvases. On this course you will create your designs freehand painting directly onto the silk-screen. You will develop your designs further by creating paper stencils these will be used with the deconstructive technique to build surfaces and layers within your design.
Students will learn the techniques of Polychromatic & Deconstructive Printing and also paper stencilling in conjunction with the Screen-printing. Students will gain extensive knowledge in the use of the techniques used and will be shown how to mix print pastes used in this technique. Students will take away a sketchbook of designs and ideas developed with an understanding of techniques and materials. Each student will create at least one product a t-shirt, bag or canvas.
